Yesterday was the prescribed burn for a section of woods at the west end of the dune at Fox Island. The conditions were perfect: low wind and humidity, plenty of dry leaves on the ground. I was there in a Nomex suit with a radio and camera. The burn went smoothly, so I was able to take pictures the entire time. This was the best burn yet for this section of woods. Most of the brambles and weeds appear to have been killed. Several of the old snags came down. The live trees are still in good shape.
