There are now compact fluorescent (CF) bulbs with built-in reflectors. They look like normal reflector incandescent lights. The new floodlight bulbs are perfect for use in “can lights.” I replaced a 75 Watt standard incandescent with a 15 W CF flood lamp in a can light. The CF bulb runs cool, produces better light, and is 50% brighter. I also found some “daylight” CF bulbs. The daylight bulbs go for only $1 more than the normal “cool blue” CF bulbs. There are fewer and fewer situations where a incandescent is a better choice than a compact fluorescent. Hurray for saving energy while getting better results!

In other news, Dad and I spent yesterday afternoon photographing the last of the fall leaves.
